Heading uphill now that the road had passed Waddell Creek. The road conditions in San Mateo County were much the same as the Santa Cruz section.

From the guard station Gazos Creek Road started downhill (sometimes steeply) to eventually meet up with Gazos Creek itself. The road was paved at one point, and bits and pieces of blacktop were still present.

A solitary bananna slug climbing the underside of a downed redwood. Slugs were prevalent on the lower sections of the road.
