The south side of the gap was exposed and very hot (returning to chaparrel for the moment) as it headed down to the San Rafael Wilderness boundary.

Sign at the San Rafael Wilderness boundary. The sign on the right is at the head of a spur trail leading to Bear Camp. My route continued along the road to the left.

Junction of the road and a short spur to the waterless Alamar Station camp. Unlike the folks at the Ventana Wilderness, the San Rafael Wilderness management seems to know how to spell "Suelo".
