 Big Pine Mountain
Suttle noted that the spur to the summit was marked by a "D73" sign, but I saw no trace of the sign. The turnoff was pretty hard to miss.

D73 was much less maintained than the main road, and numerous deadfalls blocked the trail. Very very dry up here.

The D74 sign was still present near the summit.

Small clearing at the Big Pine Mountain summit. Supposedly, there was a Sierra Club registry somewhere up here. I didn't see it, but I didn't look too hard. Suttle recommended "mouting the small boulder piles to gaurantee reaching the actual topmost point", but this seemed a bit absurd.

The summit was too rounded and tree covered to provide much of a view. This shot is looking southwest toward West Big Pine.

Very hot and exposed as I climbed back up to the Madulce Peak trail junction. Temps peaked in the mid 80s in the afternoon.

Looking back at Big Pine Mountain, a fairly nondescript peak.
