Topo and GPS tracks for today's ~12mi/3500ft gain outing out of Lovell Canyon.

This was my 2nd attempt at Bridge- I had aborted first attempt after my ankle started bothering me after I had visited North/Yellow North in September.

Stopped to help someone jump start a dead battery on Lovell Canyon Road on the way in.

A second trip up Bridge (with better pictures) can be found here.

I only made it about a half mile up Rocky Gap Road before finding one of the rare turnouts and parking. I had made it a few hundred yards further on my last trip, but the road was an easy walk and I saw no point in pushing it.

The road becomes impassable to anything other than high clearance 4WD about a mile beyond this point.

Rainbow Wilderness area sign. (There was also a "Leaving Spring Mountain Wilderness" sign along the road)

A convoy of 4 ATVs passed me about here.

The washed out section of Rocky Gap Road. Definately wasn't going to get the Outback past this point.

Passed the owners of this 4WD who were scouting the wash. A bit further I passed a team of 3 pickups heading in my direction who were stopped for a post-wash navigation beer.

The road became quite icy as it ascended toward Red Rock Summit. This made for some tricky footing on my after-dark return trip

Up to the Red Rock Summit and a right turn onto the single track trail heading toward North Peak & Bridge Mountain.

Red Rock Summit lost its trailsign sometime in the last few months.

Looking back down at Red Rock Summit (which ironically was well above any of the actual red rock)

The Lovell Canyon direction is straight ahead, the winding road on the right leads down to the main Red Rock loop.
