Did the full loop up to Berry Creek falls this time around. Clockwise from the Waddell Beach entrance to Big Basin. Another relativly late start- hit the trail around 10:30.

Surfers were hanging out on Waddell beach, but it didn't look like they were getting much in the way of waves.

The Big Basin entrance gate and roadside parking lot. Noone else in the lot (would only pass a single party of 2 backpackers all day).

Down the access road, past the park office and the backcountry parking lot. Heading left to the hikers trail, which quickly climbs above the roadbed.

There were a few California Holly bushes laden with berries along the early sections of the trail.

Another holly bush as the trail headed down from the first minor ridge toward the trail junction.

Trail junction with the Clark Connection. Still think the sign overestimates the distance to Chalk Mountain.

The Clark connection switchbacked steeply up to the top of the ridge where it met with the Westridge trail.

The ridgetop Westridge trail junction. It looked like the peak to the south had a view of Waddell Beach, so I decided to detour a bit to check it out.
