The trailhead at lower Covington Flat "picnic area". Our white whale for this morning was to find the largest Joshua Tree in the park, which was supposedly a short distance from the trailhead.

Trail junction with the Covington Loop trail. We weren't originally planning on doing the whole loop, but the elusive big tree was apparently at Upper Covington Flat, not lower.
