Saw this deer as the trail turned to head up the slopes of Dana. Aside from the birds & rodents, this would be the only wildlife sighting of the day.

The sun beat me to the plateau by about 100 yards. From here, I was hiking directly into the rising sun for the next hour or so. (The Dana summit now visible again as I gained the plateau)

Up on the plateau now, looking back to the north. I was much more familiar with the territory to the north than on my last trip to Dana, and was able to see most of the route from my ascent of Mt Conness earlier in the month. (Left Edge: White Mountain, then Conness, North Peak and Saddlebag Lake)
