Topo and GPS tracks for this 5 mile, 2700ft outing in the Sweetwater Mountains near the CA/NV border. Desert Creek Peak is the highpoint of the Wellington Hills area.

This was my 41th OGUL peak.

(And was right on the cutoff of the CA Topo map set)

Used the information from Pete Yamagata's website and stopped before the third creek crossing. If you could make the first creek crossings, there was nothing more difficult about the next few and the campground would probably have been a better place to park.

The road/creek intersections themselves were much wider than the regular portion of the creek- so each required scouting a bit up or downstream for a convenient rock hop.

Eyeing the peak off to the east and looking for an appropriate place to start upslope. (There really weren't any)

The bottom of the gully was choked and often blocked by logs. The walls were loose gravel. Good times.

The slope to the north shifted to scree/talus and I started picking my way up the rocks.
