Topo and GPS tracks for today's 14 mile, 3000ft gain outing from the Cascade Lakes trailhead near the Royal Gorge cross country ski resort.

These were my 42nd and 43rd OGUL peaks.

At least part of the area between Devil and Snow is private property. The access road is signed "No Tresspassing" from the north, but there did not appear to be boundary markers elsewhere.

Parked near the Devil's Outlook warming hut from the Ski resort. The resorts ski trails run to the west side of Devils Peak (I'd return via the ski run, but it was cross country on the outbound leg)

Heading down toward the main Palisades Creek trailhead at the dam between the upper and lower cascade lake. Devils Peak on the horizen, which (unlike many of the Tahoe peaks) was impressive looking from almost every angle.

Dam between Upper and Lower Cascade Lake. As could be clearly seen later from above, the water level in the lakes was very very low.

Headed east cross country as soon as I crossed the dam and started angling to climb the ridge north of Devils Peak. Fairly easy going bushwack.

Headed too far south and ended up in a thicket of willows and other heavy underbrush. Backtracked a bit to find a break in the vegetation.

Once up on the ridge plateau the terrain opened up significantly. Portions of this are probably marshy early in the season but in mid september it was dry as a bone
