The Donner Canyon Road headed south and soon dead ended onto Carinet Oaks road after starting the first real elevation gains of today's outing. Left turn here toward Mt. Olympia.

The trail dipped down to cross Donner Creek (downstream from the falls) and then immediately regained the elevation on the other side. Lots of water in the seasonal creeks today.

Looking back a Cardinet Oaks road with the Eagle Peak ridge on the horizen. Traversing that ridge would be on my return itinerary.

Junction with the Wassermann Trail, where I had turned north when doing this route last year. Cardinet Oaks headed onto private property shortly after this and the trail left the road to stay on public lands.

Mt Olympia trail dumped me out on Mt Olympia road. A pack of trail runners (who apparently had indestructable joints) passed me heading downhill at an impressive clip.

The Zippee trail provided a shorter route to the Olympia summit at the expense of a rather extreme elevation profile.
