Looking up at the Excelsior summit (left)

I didn't realize it yet, but there was a passable use trail leading up the steep scree directly ahead.

Looking down into the Lundy Lake watershed. Burro Lake there on the left along with a bunch of smaller lakelets. There was a distant roar from a waterfall below.

The glacial cirque below Excelsior.

Looking over at Dunderberg from near the top of that rust covered subpeak. Still had 3G coverage here at just under 12k.

The West Lake/Green creek watershed now visible over there on the left- and the Virginia Lakes trail is visible winding over the pass below.

Past the top of the rust covered peaklet and eyeing the remaining route to the ridgetop. Couple of hundered feet of elevation to lose first.

Down at the bottom of the saddle and starting back up. I would gradually wind left and pick up a faint use trail again.

A bit further upslope.

Onto the use trail now with the lingering moon visible off to the right.
