Parked a the turnoff for the Burnside Mine and then backtracked a few feet to the trailhead. (The Burnside mine is the 2nd left turn about 3mi past the entrance gate)

The initial trail was an old 4wd road near Hawkins Creek. It was signed with ORV notices, but no other identification markings.

The forest cover of the trailhead was misleading- the road quickly climbed out of the creek canyon and up to the exposed ridgeline.

First look at Hawkins in the distance off to the right.

The road climbed about 600ft in a little over a mile and reminded me a bit of the ranch roads in Henry Coe.

The view of Hawkins now unobstructed. Today's route would be across the slope to the left of the peak.

A much nicer shot of Pickett than I had gotten in yesterdays crappy lighting. Climbed that chute on the far right yesterday.
