The route through the lupine fields at the upper portion of the canyon were mostly indistinguishable. (I remember it switchbacking a bit, but didn't look all that hard in the increasing rain and just headed straight downslope when in doubt)

The only poppies I spotted today.

This is one of the turns that caused me confusion on the way out. (The correct route is left, the trail appears to continue straight)
I piled that trail duck as a marker.

Back to the lush trailhead valley. The top of JSP was now clouded over. (And the wet grass had my feet pretty much soaked)
