 Lost Coast Trail
Beach at Little Jackass Creek campsite. (Little Jackass creek is one ridge over from Jackass Creek). Off beach campsites were double/triple occupied and the beach was pretty well staked out by the time I arrived. Was still early so I decided to head back toward Wheeler.

This Pacific Treefrog hopped into the tent as I was setting it up. Only an inch or two long. Very common in CA, and used as the source 'ribbit' sound effect in movies.

Tent on the overlook. Had really hoped to see a sunset over the pacific, but the fog completely obscured both the sun and sky (which gradually faded from white to black). Had a cliff bar and some sunflower seeds for dinner and did some reading before going to sleep. A group of backpackers from Stanford visited the ridge in the evening on their way down to the beach. Went without the rain fly on the tent and as luck would have it it rained a bit in the morning.

Dangled my remaining food and toiletries over the cliff as a bear precaution. No sign of bears, though a hiker I had talked to said he had seen one the previous day.

Deer (the same two from yesterday?) near the mudslide near Jackass Creek. Deer appeared to be much more interested in breakfast than the approaching backpacker.
