Chalk Mountain and the West Ridge visible to the north during a brief break in the tree cover. Could barely make out the tower but its not visible in the photo.

Lots more downhill, and a fair amount of acorns on the trail making the footing occasionally unstable. Passed the only person I'd see today shortly before reaching the bottom.

Finally reached the bottom of the HK trail when it dumped out back at Waddell Creek and the Skyline trail. Turned right and started the return leg of the trip.

These 2 steel beams are one of the odder backcountry bridges. They were full of water today and a bit slippery.

Berry Creek falls is only a short detour from the Skyline trail so I stopped to visit it.

This was really really odd. A single shoe next to a redwood (widowmaker) branch with police tape wrapped around it. Someone's idea of a joke?

The log bridge to the Timms Creek trail (which interestingly, according to the topo, does not actually follow Timm's creek- the creek here is the West Waddell and Timms is the 1st tributary upstream)
