The Timms Creek trail is usually a good place to find newts and today was no exception. (Though there were relatively few newts out today)

Junction with the Sunset trail. I'd never been on the section back to park HQ from here, and this is the route I would take today.

The last mile or so passed through an extensive recent controlled burn and the acrid stink of wet ashes hung in the air.

Junction with the Middle Ridge road (just before it ended at the Gazos Creek road). All downhill from here.

Crossing the bridge back to the parking lot (Not the same bridge I had left on, this one connects to the back parking lot near the museum). There were a number of cars in the lot when I returned and folks were trying to cope with what was now a fairly heavy rain.
