Manzanita Point. Didn't see a whole lot of Manzanita up on the ridgetop, but it was abundant lower down on the slopes.

Decending into the chaparal on the decent down to China Hole. Thats Coyote Creek down in the valley. A Mother/Daughter cross country team who I had seen at the traihead passed me on their way up from the canyon bottom. I think they had taken the Madrone Soda Spring trail down to the bottom.

Some gooseberries (red) in bloom along with the chamise (white). The chamise was quite fragrant.

Coyote Creek was quite swollen downstream of China Hole and I gave up my original plan of taking the Narrows Trail (which would have required a creek crossing). Instead, I followed the Juniper Trail upstream toward Poverty Flat.

The Juniper Canyon trail traversed the canyon wall and eventually dead ended across from Poverty Flat. The creek crossing here wasn't all that bad, about knee deep. (Hardest part was finding a dry spot to sit and put my shoes back on)

First big hill of the day heading up out of Poverty Flat. There were numerous mudslides along the road from the recent rains.
