I hadn't gotten any exercise in about a week and the wildflowers were in bloom, so I headed down to Henry W. Coe for this Saturday dayhike.
I had never been to the northern portion of the park, and the park HQ trailhead was somewhat closer than the southern Hunting Hollow park entrance. I left shortly after 6:30am and arrived at the park around 7:30. Upon arriving at the trailhead, I realized that I had left both my trail shoes and my park map at home. Never one to miss an opportunity to follow bad planning with bad decision making, I decided to head out anyway. I had worn my soccer flats, which provided nearly no support or traction. Luckily, most of the day's milage would be on relativly tame terrain.
Thus, with no real plan other than to head east till noon and then turn around , I hit the trail...
Topo and GPS tracks for the day. (Didn't use the GPS much, just kept it in my pack. Still had the AZ base maps loaded). Route was counter clockwise around the loop.

Leaving from the park HQ, the Corral trail dipped down below the tree line for the first bit.

First trail junction about a mile east of the park HQ. Had a couple of options at this point, and (still feeling fresh) decided on the longer Spring Trail

The horse corral at Blue Oak Horse Camp. Heard some turkeys in the distance, so I left the trail here to go look for them.
