I didn't see any obvious route markings- but there was a party heading up behind me.  I waited for them but it turned out that they were unfamiliar with the route as well.

We did eventually spot a cairn that indicated that this was indeed the ascent route.  We picked our way slowy across the snowfield (it was audibly apparent that there was a runoff stream of unknown size flowing beneath it) and skirted the far edge as we ascended.

Now far enough upslope for a nice view of May Lake below.  Thats Conness/White/Tioga on the center horizon.  Mt Dana in the upper right.

There was a marshy hanging meadow at the top of the slope and we opted to head directly upward.  This was a mistake as the use trail heads up from the back right of the meadow.
