"Road Closed" sign at the junction of Coit and Wasno roads. I assumed that the closed sign didn't apply to foot traffic and continued east on Coit.

The reason for the closure was found about halfway to the lake. There was still enough roadbed for foot/bike passage on the left but there's no way a car could get past.

Update: I've been able to spot this section of the road from the air on commercial flights between San Jose and Los Angeles

A second view of the eroded roadbed from the far side. Don't think that this section of Coit road will be reopening anytime soon.

Kelly Lake came into view and Coit Road switchbacked down to reach it. Bit of a overcast day and visibility was never all that great.

One of the excessivly nice pit latrines that frequent the Henry W. Coe backcountry. On the left, the closed sign for this side of the road.

Kelly Lake. I think that this (like most of the lakes and many of the ponds) is a manmade lake. There were several ducks and hanging out on the lake and there were frogs amidst the reeds.

Major trail junction between Kelly and Coit lakes. (Now about midway between the north and south park entrances). Turned left here to approact Coit lake from the northern dam side.
