20 or so mile loop from the Henry Coe Coyote Creek entrance (bottom left). The falls are in the upper right. Route was clockwise around the loop. (For some unknown reason the lakes are purple on the Topo)

Around dawn (6:30 or so) at the Coyote Creek entrance to the park. There's no park signs or other indications that this is a formal park entrance (other than a sign saying reservations are required for overnight camping). The bridge leads to the Gilroy Hot Springs (there is a gate at the far side of the bridge). Noone around when I hit the trail.

Had to navigate the Grizzly Gulch creek, which emptied into Coyote creek just past the trailhead. Was able to find a rock hoppable spot just upstream from the road.

Followed Coit road for the first mile or as it followed the creek north. Buildings/roads from the Hot Springs could be seen on the far side of the creek canyon.

Turned east onto the Anza trail at this junction. This section of trail is part of the Juan Bautista de Anza national historic trail ( link) and commemorates his 1775-76 trip when he led a contingent of 30 soldiers and their families to found a presidio and mission near the San Francisco Bay.

Woodchopper Spring was near the Anza/Coit Road junction and (like all the springs I'd see today) was overflowing. No trouble finding water this season.

Not sure if this was Woodchopper Spring itself, or just a creek that had temorarily gone underground. In any case, it resurfaced near the Woodchopper Spring site.

The Anza trail climbed through forested terrain and topped out at this meadow. There were a few deer grazing in the meadow as I approaced. The Cullen trail leads east off to Grizzly Gulch, but I would be heading north from here.

Junction of the Jackson trail and the Anza trail. I was still feeling fresh and opted to take the longer left route. Very green up here today.
