Much of the approach was in the East Fork canyon which was still flowing and surprisingly green. There was a creek crossing at the bottom of the canyon and then it was all uphill.

There were a couple of impressive unnamed peaks at the head of the canyon. (Pk 11350, etc) Patterson and Wheeler were further back and wouldn't be visible until the ridgetop was gained.

The mining road quickly passed the treeline (and, for the most part, the vegetation line). A hunting party on ATVs passed me as I was heading up.

A wide plateau at 11k feet with Mt Patterson on the horizen about a half mile away. A party of a dozen or so folks were heading down from the peak as I ascended.

The last couple yards to the nondescript summit of Mt Patterson. The wind was gusting at a good 20-30mph clip (and would continue to do so the whole time I was on the ridge)

Looking over at today's 2nd destination- Wheeler Peak. About 1.5 direct miles across the canyon or 2 miles circling around the ridge on the mining road.
