Sunrise over the Ventana Wilderness. Did the first 3-4 miles before sunrise with a headlamp. Much warmer than last week.

Church creek was completely dry near the camp. It began to pick up water from tributaries within a few miles.

A very productive woodpecker seems to live nearby.
Update: These trees are mentioned in schaffer's book, so they've been like this for at least 20 years. The woodpeckers need to wedge them in tightly enough such that the cannot be stolen by the stellar jays.

View back up Hiding Canyon. The trail followed the creek at the bottom of the canyon for most of the way down, then climbed to follow the side of the ridge. That should be Miller Mountain there on the left.
