The Jakes summit block. Way beyond my abilities from this angle so I began to circle the peak looking for an easier ascent route.

The Jakes highpoint is on the right. That slope probably would have been a doable friction climb in rock shoes- but I didn't want to try it in my trail runners.

The minor highpoint just to the south of the summit. Climbed this just to make sure that it wasn't the summit.

Looking back at the summit from the minor highpoint. I'd next head over to the rocks on the left to see if that offered a route.

So close and yet so far. Summit about 10-20 yards away but unreachable from here.

Back to the base of the peak and checking out this chute- but opted against it.

Back to the opposite side of the summit block. That small shelf probably was doable- but it was narrow, gravely, angled downward, and exposed. Nope.
