9.2 miles and 4100ft of gain today out of Star Creek Canyon in the historic Star City mining district.

My original plan was to to the full loop over to Star Peak, but the snow and the elevation gain got the better of me.

Polar Plot for the outing is here.

About 2 miles back into the canyon on a good dirt road off of NV400 south of Mill City. Got a good look at the north facing slopes on the drive in and had doubts as to how much of the traverse I'd be able to complete.

Started up the spur road leading north which ended almost immediately after an old mineshaft. I started up the left slope but probably would have been better heading up climber right.

Up onto the ridge and looking over at Star Peak. That road along the slope leads to some mining stake and not to the summit itself.

Spotted the old mining road about halfway up and veered over to join with it.

Another look over at Star. It looked as if there was a clean snow free decent along the spine of the ridge if I had been able to get to the Star Summit.

Onto the old mining road with Sacred Point now visible at the end of the ridge.
