Note: My second trip to Sierra Point has better pictures. (It was a bit later in the morning and the sun was a little higher.)
That album is here

Grabbed a cup of coffee and sipped it while covering the first mile from Curry Village to the Happy Isle trailhead. This is the (swollen but not flooded) Merced River from the bridge.

The beta I had read on climber.org was indeed correct. The "Rock Pile" intrepretive sign was a short distance up the trail. From there, I backtracked a few feet and headed upward.

On my ascent, I headed a bit too much right. The correct route is to head into the talus pile on the left. You should be able to pick up a discernable trail before you lose sight of the river.

Soon found the trail, which was reminicant of the lower Yosemite Falls trail except narrow, much steeper, and slightly more exposed.

Great view of the end of Yosemite Valley as I climbed above the tree line. Yosemite Falls was in full flow and North Dome was visible on the right.

One of the steeper sections of the trail, which at this point had been partially blasted into the hillside.

Stairsteps. For being an abandoned trail, the route was in very good shape.
