The trail climbed up to a large bowl that was still retaining a substantial amount of snow. I was worried that it might be impassible, but it looked like the snowfield could be avoided on the far right by scrambling around on the talus.

My first goal was to skirt around this snowfield and get up to the portion of the trail that wasn't snowbound.
