The Nipple was a quick little outing from Blue Lake Road near Carson Pass (4.5mi round trip, 1300ft gain). I ended up in the wrong canyon on the descent and ended up taking that looping detour to the south. I *should* have just taken the PCT, which passed right below the peak. (Much closer than the route shown on the Topo)

The Nipple was my 19th OGUL peak.

Looking back at Markleeville Peak. Had thoughts of tagging this one today as well but my detour and the damndable skeeters prompted me to push it to later.

Parked at an arbitrary point on Blue Lake Road.

Heading uphill in what was a fairly rocky slope. Needed to circle around some minor cliffs at a couple points.

The slope opened up as I climbed above the treeline with a couple of mule ears in bloom. I headed for a gap between the snowfields.

Couple of feet of snowfree space, but it was enough for me to gain the ridge.
