Route for todays wandering ascent of Wade from Horsethief Canyon. (12mi and 3100ft gain). My route out was a horrible bushwack. The return trip covered a much better route- Right turn at the road junction, past the ridge to the north, and then the pine forested north slopes of peak 9390.

Wade is my 29th OGUL peak.

The creek canyon was nothing like I was expecting from the slopes visible from the highway. It was a shaded pine canyon with a ample creek flowing down it.

Cattle gate. Didn't see any today, but there was ample evidence of grazing in the meadow.

Sign marking the "End of the Maintained Trail". The easiest route from here is to turn hard right onto the road and follow the road up the east side of the meadow.

I opted to take one of the cattle trails north. This followed the west edge of the meadow and loosely followed the trail on the USGS quad.
