I angled further north and avoided the brushy section on the way down. Next stop was to drive down to Pickett near the 88/89 junction.

Burnside Lake road was in reasonable shape for a forest road and I took the Pickett Peak road up to its apex before parking and looking for a trail.

This dirt road was heading in the direction I needed to go, so south I went.

The spur road deadended in about a third of a mile and then it was plowing uphill offtrail through increasingly thick vegetation. I'm pretty sure this wasn't even close to the easiest route up Pickett.

Pretty interesting geology. The summit ridge consisted of volcanic columns that were gradually crumbling creating the large talus pile at the base.

Done crawling through the brush (which got steadily worse as the peak approached) and up onto the talus scramble. (That peaklet on the right isn't marked on the topo)

My route to the top would be up the big talus chute on the SE side of the summit.

The chute topped out at a small saddle and it was class 3 scrambling up the broken columns to the top.

The summit was basically a large bolder pile and fairly painstaking to cross. I headed to the west side of the summit in an unsuccessful search for a registry (though one could have been hidden in any of the thousands of gaps between the bolders)
