The trail skirted around some private property and then dumped out onto Cardinet Oaks road. The road looked like it headed over a ridge that wasn't particularly in the mood to climb. This turn promised to head down to towards Lower Donner Creek so I opted for that instead. Was really wishing I had picked up a trail map at this point Passed through a bit of manzanita on the descent and finally ended up back in the grassland. Rain clouds gathering at this point.
